Update on Self Build Timber Frame Home in Tilehurst, Reading

In June of this year we posted on the website about the new timber frame house we were supplying our self build client in Reading.

At this time the remainder of the roof structure was still to be installed as we had just installed the steels which will be supporting the roof which is a mixture of top hat design and traditional cut roof sections.

With our timber frame works completed in July 2019, the external and internal works were able to commence immediately and these are photos from site in October 2019.

Plasterboarding to internal face of the timber frame panels which was installed onto the 50x50mm service void batten that we had installed onto the vapour control multi-foil to assist with first fix trades.

All the joints were taped and wrapped in vapour control foil above and below the joints to assist with both the thermal efficiency and air tightness.

The external panels had batten provided by Vision to fit the cladding onto which assisted with the follow on trades who installed the cladding.

In these photos you can see how the external finishes sit on the external face of the timber frame panels and how the windows sit within the structural openings within the timber frame structure. Note the fire socks around the window openings.

Below is a nice before and after of the timber frame structure installed (left) and the external finishes almost complete (right).
