New Timber Frame Self-Build Home in Coastal Village, West Sussex

Our client approached us in November 2017 with designs for a new build timber frame home that they were keen to get started as soon as possible.

After Christmas 2017 and some amendments required to the foundations on site we delivered our panels on the 9^th July 2018.

Posi metal web joists are made in our factory combining timber and strong steel webs enabling a span of far greater distances than alternative designs of joist systems.

With more and more homes opting for MVHR (Mechanical Heat Recovery) systems the web design of the joists allows for ease of access for the installation of the conduits for these as well as other first fix services.

The posi metal web joists are also used for forming flat roof designs due to their strength and ability to stretch larger spans.

With the joists now installed the flooring can be fitted to provide a working platform for the erectors to install the first floor panels.

We have used the Hybris Insulation within the external wall panels which is fitted within our factory before transported to site. The insulation not only provides thermal insulation, but acoustic and air tightness for the entire construction.

With the first floor panels in place (with insulated gable panels) the roof trusses can now be installed as well as the traditional cut sections which our erectors will complete on site as pre-fabricated trusses aren’t always suitable for all designs of roofs, but using a mixture of both helps to keep the construction completed in a timely fashion.

These are the designs by the Client’s architect which we have worked from to design and engineer the timber frame structure for this new build home.
